VPS SIVO 280 is a novel multifunctional siloxane adhesion promoter with aminofunctionalities that can be used for various applications.

VPS SIVO 280 is mainly dedicated for use in adhesives & sealants to improve the adhesion of hybrid products (e.g. silylated polyurethanes, MS Polymers®) and RTV-silicones - especially to difficult to stick polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) substrates. In addition, VPS SIVO 280 can lead to adequate adhesive cure and it imparts both additional flexibility and hydrophobicity.

Benefits

VPS SIVO 280 exhibits excellent wetting on substrates and it can form weather- and moisture-resistant bonds to substrates which are partially difficult to adhere. The main benefits of VPS SIVO 280 in silylated polyurethane or MS polymer based adhesives & sealants are:

• Improved adhesion to plastics, especially to polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA)
• Improved adhesion to aluminum
• Well-Balanced mechanical properties
• Significant VOC-reduction compared to conventional amino silanes

Typical Applications

VPS SIVO 280 has been developed mainly for use in:

• MS Polymer®
• Silane modified polyurethane/ polyether
• RTV-1/RTV-2 silicones
• Butyl rubber

We do not recommend to use VPS SIVO 280 in 1K-PU or 1K-EP formulations. The compatibility of other ingredients with VPS SIVO 280 should be tested in advance.

VPS SIVO 280 is a versatile product that provides improved product performance and quality. VPS SIVO 280 is soluble in alcohols, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, but it can undergo reactions with ketones or ester solvents. VPS SIVO 280 is considered primarily as an additive in moisture curable adhesives & sealants to eliminate the need for special primers in numerous bonding applications. Loading levels of 0,5 to 2,0 wt. % of VPS SIVO 280 as an additive - calculated on the overall formulation -are typically recommended.
