As the January 15^th deadline nears, negotiations between United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) and International Longshoreman Association (ILA) regarding the potential strike remain ongoing. Since October’s port strike was resolved through a temporary extension of the existing agreement—which included a 62% wage increase—both parties have made positive progress on several topics. However, automation remains a contentious issue. ILA argues it will replace workers, while USMX emphasizes that its goal is optimization, not job elimination.
