As the January 15th deadline nears, negotiations between United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) and International Longshoreman Association (ILA) regarding the potential strike remain ongoing. At Palmer Holland, we are committed to maintaining strong connections with our customers, even amidst industry uncertainties.

Since October’s port strike was resolved through a temporary extension of the existing agreement—which included a 62% wage increase—both parties have made positive progress on several topics. However, automation remains a contentious issue. ILA argues it will replace workers, while USMX emphasizes that its goal is optimization, not job elimination.

Palmer Holland remains proactive in mitigating and preparing for potential disruptions and ensuring seamless service. Our team is dedicated to keeping you informed and supported through these evolving challenges.

We’ll continue to provide updates as this situation develops. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact your Palmer Holland team.
