On February 7, 2024, ECHA announced that they are considering recommending the following substances for the REACH Authorization List.
On February 7, 2024, ECHA announced that they are considering recommending the following substances for the REACH Authorization List:
ECHA is asking member states and REACH registrants for further information on the uses of these substances and possible exemptions. ECHA encourages these stakeholders to update their use information and send in their comments to ECHA before finalizing their recommendation to the European Commission in Spring 2025.
What does this mean for you?
The 5 substances are currently on the Candidate List of SVHC. ECHA regularly recommends adding substances from the SVHC list to the Authorization list, requiring importers and manufacturers to apply for authorization to use the substance. After addition to the Authorization List, these substances may become further restricted in the EU and added to the Restriction List. Companies that import these substances into the EU should be made aware of their possible inclusion on the Authorization List so they can begin to make necessary arrangements.
- Melamine (CASRN 108-78-1)
- Bis(2-ethylhexyl) tetrabromophthalate covering any of the individual isomers and/or combinations thereof (TBPH) (CASRN 26040-51-7)
- S-(tricyclo[5.2.1.0 2,6]deca-3-en-8(or 9)-yl) O-(isopropyl or isobutyl or 2-ethylhexyl) O-(isopropyl or isobutyl or 2-ethylhexyl) phosphorodithioate (CASRN 255881-94-8)
- Diphenyl(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phosphine oxide (CASRN 75980-60-8)
- Barium diboron tetraoxide (CASRN 13701-59-2)
