Laboratory—this word often conjures polarizing memories of sitting in a stuffy chemistry classroom waiting for the bell to ring. While chemistry may not have been everyone’s favorite subject, there is no doubt a tremendous benefit that comes from having an in-house laboratory developing new lubrication technology.

Focus Chemical is a subsidiary of Palmer Holland that houses a lab in Greenville, South Carolina. This in-house lab specializes in the development of new products while also identifying the synergies between other chemistries in Palmer Holland’s portfolio. This also means that Focus Chemical has direct access to the cutting-edge technologies of other principals that we use to identify the gaps and current needs in the lubricants market. As the metalworking landscape evolves, Focus Chemical is well-positioned to stay ahead of market changes and provide a full line of additives and base packages to customers.

All Focus Chemical products are domestically manufactured in the United States. Located in our South Carolina facility, our team of chemists ensures consistent product quality and continued development. Focus Chemical supports technical service projects for customers using their products and can help optimize emulsions, performance, and, for unique applications, develop custom solutions and chemistries. We strive to provide the best additives and base packages on the market to ensure maximum efficiency, energy, and cost savings for our customers.

The Focus Chemical lab features state-of-the-art equipment that we leverage for all our projects. This ensures that we are creating high quality products and meeting the standards our customers expect. Some of the tools at our disposal include FT-IR and microtap. We can also analyze stability, HLB value, acid and base numbers, pH, moisture content as well as a myriad of other properties. Our FT-IR is equipped with a Diamond ATR, as well as a special UATR for liquid transmission analysis. Beyond utilizing this equipment for our own development, we offer these services to our customers to ensure they are getting the best product and personalized service when they incorporate our additives or base packages into their formulations.

Even though we specialize in metalworking, some of our technology is also applied in the oil and gas industry and the household, industrial, and institutional (HI&I) market. We always enjoy solving new problems and love to find new ways to utilize our assets.

Customers can expect technical support, high performance chemistries, and tailored solutions from Focus Chemical, bringing efficiency and profitability to their operations.
