Allnex Offers CYMEL® Resin Grades with Lower Free Formaldehyde Limits

In proactive response to a European regulatory change and customer demand for lower free formaldehyde product offerings, Allnex has been reviewing approaches to reduce free formaldehyde in select grades within its product portfolio.

Effective as of January 1, 2016, formaldehyde will be re-classified in chemical products containing equal to or greater than 0,1% free formaldehyde. This re-classification is part of the 6th ATP (EU Commission Regulation 605/2014) amendments. This change impacts labeling requirements throughout the coatings value chain for materials containing free formaldehyde above this threshold.

Based on improved process capabilities at its manufacturing facilities, Allnex is pleased to announce that it will lower the free formaldehyde limits and reportable Safety Datasheet (SDS) values to less than 0,1% on the following melamine-formaldehyde resins:

• CYMEL® 303 LF
• CYMEL® 1168
• CYMEL® 1130
• CYMEL® 1133
• CYMEL® 1161
• CYMEL® 3020

The reduction of free formaldehyde in these products will not result in other change to product specifications as these more stringent requirements are able to be met within the current process capabilities at Allnex’s various plants. In addition, due to the lower free formaldehyde level achieved on CYMEL® 303 LF, CYMEL® 303 ULF (Ultra Low Formaldehyde) resin will be discontinued.

These lower free formaldehyde products are complemented by formaldehyde-free resins (CYMEL® NF 3041 and CYMEL® NF 2000) that Allnex already supplies to the market.

Essential tasks of the position include:

  • Sell PH products and act as a professional sales representative for distribution partners
  • Perform sales calls on a daily basis via phone, email, fax and in person
  • Develop and implement sales plans, document price quotes, perform sales contract reviews, and report sales performance
  • Communicate with customers and internal staff to secure sales orders and assure customer satisfaction
  • Grow sales in the assigned territory by engaging in relationship-based sales techniques

 

Requirements:

  • A four-year degree from an accredited university in a field applicable to technical sales in PH associated industries
  • Experience in chemical/technical sales
    • Experience in managing and executing product sales plans
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and understand technical and non-technical documents as they relate to the sales of and contracts for the company’s products

BerdeSol, TBF's VOC-compliant alternative, is now commercially available

 

TBF Environmental Technology Inc., a world leader in the development of environmentally-friendly industrial solvents, announced today that BerdeSol – the company’s latest Volatile Organic Content (VOC)-compliant alternative – is now commercially available. This is the third of three major announcements from TBF in recent months, who late last year, also released two other industry-changing VOC-compliant alternatives available: ShiraSol and KradaSol. 

BerdeSol can replace slow-evaporating conventional solvents like heptane, Aromatic 100, cyclohexane, methyl amyl ketone (MAK), perchloroethylene, and butyl acetate. Not only does BerdeSol perform similarly to these solvents, it also eliminates the emission of VOCs and other toxic pollutants.
 

In its continuing efforts to improve Southern Californian air quality, the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) has created a new class of Clean Air Solvents (CAS) for solvents which, among other criteria, contain no more than 25 grams of VOC per liter of material.  SCAQMD has certified BerdeSol as a Clean Air Solvent.  In addition, independent ASTM 313-91 testing has confirmed BerdeSol is VOC-compliant throughout the United States and Canada.


“The chemical industry has been waiting a long time for industrial solvents that perform effectively yet meet the VOC content limits of SCAQMD, the EPA and other air quality regulators,” said David W. SCAQMD Certifies KradaSol™ from TBF as Clean Air Solvent
